NEW ASSIGNMENT UPDATE!

GREAT BOOKS I

• We have had several in depth discussions about our book Dreamseller by Brandon Novak. During today's discussion several people had trouble recalling some of the basic story line details we've covered so far. Great Books I is to read Chapters 22-25 for Friday's class discussion. Over the weekend, please complete the remainder of the book! (Ch 26-32 to include the epilogue.) We will have a class discussion on Tuesday. I will also be giving a quiz over the book so be sure to get the reading completed! 

• Six Word Memoir Project: Friday 2/1/13 is the deadline for you six word memoir projects. You should have completed and turned in;

1. Your journal with your list of brainstormed ideas 
2. Your Focus Word synonym activity worksheet that clearly shows how your six word memoir evolved by improving a word(s) using one of the three strategies in the 'variances of synonyms' handout. I want to see how you choose the best possible six word combination. 
3. email me an electronic version of your memoir with graphic and name. In the Subject line please type: Memoir. If you don't have a electronic version your piece should be turned in for scanning by the due date. email to: gurule_joey@aps.edu

NEW BOOK! - Please acquire Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams by 2/7. This book will launch our Science Fiction Unit.


GREAT BOOKS II 

We have made sizable gains in what started as a slow book. The Picture of Dorian Gray is nearing completion. We have also had several discussions over the book and discussed some of the parallels to Mythology. You were to read Chapters 13-16 for Friday's class. Over the weekend you are to complete the remainder of the novel. You are also to develop 2 Level III questions and post them to the blog by 9:00am on Monday 2/4.
